The Opportunity

We are looking for an accomplished Assistant Vice President, Client Accounting to join our Accounting department as part of our financial services business in Amsterdam.

 

As part of the global expansion of the Maples Group’s financial services offering, our Amsterdam office opened its doors in 2015. Assistant Vice President, Client Accounting is responsible for independently undertaking a variety of accounting mandates and/or complex mandates as directed by Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents, and/or for assisting Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents with the administration of a portfolio of real estate & private equity clients.

 

Your primary responsibilities include: 

  

  • maintaining contact with asset/investment managers, collateral administrators, banks and other involved stakeholders to obtain the required information for reporting purposes, meeting deadlines and meeting the client's needs;
  • liaising with external parties such as tax advisors, auditors and regulatory authorities;
  • managing own portfolio in respect of planning, meeting deadlines and quality of work;
  • keeping abreast with changes in local (relevant) legislation and accounting guidelines;
  • handling all accounting services for Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and Fund entities
  • preparing complex management accounts and reviewing management accounts prepared by Junior Client Accountants and Client Accountants and/or compiling financial statements (according to Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS standard or any other accounting principles) on time and in accordance with the agreed terms of the engagement;
  • preparing audit tails and support the audit process by coordinating between all parties involved, such as the client, tax advisors, asset managers, property managers;
  • developing effective working relations with clients and responding promptly and professionally to client requests;
  • preparing or reviewing tax computations and submitting tax returns for the relevant tax heads incl., CIT (Corporate Income Tax), VAT. This would also involve liaising with relevant tax advisors for and on behalf of a client company;
  • preparing or reviewing clients forecasts and budgets;
  • preparing and reviewing client payments;
  • consistently monitoring and minimising debtors position;
  • assisting Junior and Client Accountants with issues and escalating to VPs and SVP if necessary.

 

What You Bring

In addition to a commitment to delivering superior candidate and stakeholder experiences:  

  • Fluent English; Dutch would be an asset
  • Accounting or any other relevant degree;
  • 5+ years of relevant experience gained in fiduciary and financial services industry;
  • Professional accountancy qualification (i.e. ACA/ACCA/CIMA) would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of Dutch GAAP, IFRS would be an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch corporate accounting gained in Fiduciary, Audit or any other similar services industry within finance;
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Team player
